There are 3 main qualities that make a great product, according to the Kano model. Each of these 3 qualities speaks to a distinct response we can observe in users to the way a product behaves. If one of these qualities is neglected in the product development process, then we risk creating a lack-luster offering which is not likely to be competitive or profitable.

How to define where your customers sit on a vast scale of motivations.

The problem with user personas alone is that they are often times simply a description of the top-of-the-bell-curve average person, identified from a lineup of assumptions. Not all of your users will resonate with the sentiments of the average person. So this begs the question:

How can you be confident that your personas embody your entire user audience?

I remember flipping through well crafted images, trying to emulate some of the drawing styles I’d see in comics and manga books as a kid. It’s only natural that I extend a big thanks to the graphic novel section at my public library for not only providing me hours of entertainment, but in helping me and so many children growing up to develop a sense of creativity and wonder.
